Prayer of the Church

THE PRAYER OF THE CHURCH - MORNING PRAYER

Each weekday morning at 9.45am, before the 10am Mass.

Many of the accounts of the early Church speak to us of a community at prayer, (see Acts 2: 42). Since Vatican II the Divine Office has been renewed so as to ensure that it should be once again the prayer of the whole Church, not just of priests and religious.

Sometimes known as the ‘Liturgy of the Hours’ because it is celebrated at certain key points in the day – Morning, Evening, Night etc - this Prayer of the Church consists of carefully arranged Psalms, Hymns, Readings from Scripture and Prayers of Intercession which enable us to ‘pray constantly’ (Eph 6:18).

Since its introduction to this parish in 1983, the psalms of Morning Prayer have raised up praise and petition to God for all our needs.

Help us to ensure the continuation of this beautiful prayer of unity each week morning!
