| Financial Statement 2012 |

To the parishioners of Muckno, From the Parish Finance & Property Committee, February 2013
Thank you again to all who contribute to the monthly collection in support of the priests and to the weekly and other collections which are taken up throughout the year. We attach the Parish Financial Statement for 2012. It provides details of the amounts received under the different headings and the expenditure in the various categories. You will remember that, at this time last year, we provided details of the pattern of returns in the weekly and monthly envelopes and that has remained more or less the same during this past year which for those who are making contributions in excess of as much as €300 per month represents a remarkable level of generosity in these difficult economic times. Last year we named the following major building and renovation projects: (1) New living accommodation at Beech Corner for the priests; (2) The restoration and renovation of our two churches, St. Mary’s, Castleblayney and St. Patrick’s, Oram; (3) Drainage, lighting and health and safety works at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The projected cost of these works is in excess of €3,000,000 and presently the parish has less than €400,000 at its disposal. Planning permission has been obtained for the new accommodation for priests at Beech Corner and this project is presently in the tender process with work expected to commence during March of this year. Plans have been submitted in December 2012 to the local planning authority for the restoration of St. Mary’s church and that work is expected to begin later this year. Major fundraising is now necessary because presently we are not, from our present income, able to convince those from whom we need to borrow money that we have the required capacity for repayment. Recently we wrote, with the approval of Bishop Mac Daid, to all the parishes of the diocese appealing for loans from those who may be in a position to provide them but we have not yet received any offers. A public meeting to which all parishioners and friends of Muckno parish are invited, will take place in the Castle Suite, Glencarn Hotel on Tuesday 5th March 2013 at 8.00pm. This meeting will provide further information on the finances of the parish and consider some proposals for fund raising. We appeal to the goodwill of all and we are confident that the support which the parish has always received will be forthcoming again as together we continue with this major restoration and upgrading of our buildings and property. Once again, we thank all who continue to support the parish and ask all parishioners to play as full a role as possible in the challenges that will face us financially in the coming years. Chairman, Declan Mc Ateer. Secretary, Fr Pat Mc Hugh Members: Suzanne Campbell, Kathleen Carville, Joan Loughman, Noel Loughran, Pádraig Watters.
