Muckno Parish Celebrates Catholic Schools Week Thurs 3rd Feb Schools, parishes and dioceses throughout Ireland will observe this year’s Catholic Schools Week with various events and celebrations during this coming week. The theme for this year is, ‘Catholic Schools –

Rooted in Jesus Christ’. To honour this important opportunity the Parish Pastoral Team on behalf of the faith community of Muckno has invited all the staff members of the nine schools (primary and post primary) in the parish for a celebration of Eucharist followed by some food in the Glencarn Hotel on Thursday 3rd February at 4.15pm.  This event is being held to demonstrate the appreciation and support of the parish for those who serve the children and young people of our community in our schools. Schools are primary places of learning and formation, like the disciples in today’s gospel the best attitudes of God’s love and care can be experienced in the presence of Jesus, the ultimate teacher.

As Bishop Donal Mc Keown, writing in advance of this week, said, ‘In an age where children and young people are under enormous pressure to adopt very insubstantial heroes from the saccharine world of light entertainment or the virtual world of war games, we have the common interest of promoting an openness to love, truth and beauty, to community and generosity, to being inspired by good and by God’.
