First Holy Communion 2020
Dear Friends
As you know, we should have celebrated 1st Holy Communion in May. We have found ourselves in extraordinary times, but it
is still very important as people of faith and hope that we keep looking forward.
For this year, we feel that we have to adopt a parish/family solution to the challenge that Covid-19 has left us in how we
celebrate 1st Holy Communion, while continuing to recognise the enormous role that all our schools perform in preparing
your children for the sacraments.
We are proposing the following plan this year for your children to celebrate 1st Holy Communion, mindful of the following
considerations, which we must adhere to as regards governmental guidelines.
A maximum of 100 people per ceremony, with social distancing of 2 metres will apply as per the governments
roadmap.
A household can obviously sit together, but a large number of family and friends will not be possible.(5 per family)
A maximum of 20 children (20 families) making 1st Holy Communion will be able attend each celebration in St Mary’s
Church Castleblayney and a maximum of 15 in St. Patrick’s Church, Oram.
The dates for 1st Holy Communion are:
Saturday, August 1st
12 noon -St Mary’s Church, Castleblayney
2pm—St Patrick’s Church, Oram.
Saturday, August 8th
12 noon -St Mary’s Church, Castleblayney
2pm- St Mary’s Church, Castleblayney
To register your child for your preferred option, please contact the parish office on 042-9740027 Monday morning 6th July
from 10am.
Staying safe remains and absolute and all of the above can change at any time,It is important that we keep moving forward,
working together and looking out for one another, enabling our children to celebrate the sacraments and creating the environment for the schools to return in September, without the added pressure of preparing children for the sacraments and
giving families an opportunity to celebrate significant days once more together.
Our revised plan for the Sacraments of Confirmation 2020 will be promoted in the weeks to come.
Parish Draw: Our Parish Fundraising Draw for the months of May & June will take place Tuesday evening at
7.30pm via Facebook & our new YouTube Channel “Muckno Parish” and on parish website.
Due to Covid 19 our promoters are unavailable to call in person for the collection of contributions. We ask
that you personally leave your contribution in the Parish Office in order to be included in the draw. Once
again we express our thanks to all who generously sponsor this worthy cause.
